Back in the day, it was admittedly not very easy to determine if a child has autism. This was especially true because there wasn’t a lot that was known about the severe developmental disorder, save for the fact that it looked like a lot of other mental and psychological set of symptoms known to man.

A lot has changed in recent times, especially starting from the 1990s, after a few movies were made that brought the attention of the public to the reality and severity of the condition. As a consequence, of this awareness and more research results into the autistic disorder, there are now better ways to accurately diagnose the syndrome.

If you are aware of some of the symptoms and signs of autism, especially in toddlers, you will know to seek early medical attention for your child and prepare yourself for the lifestyle you may have to live to be able to deal with the condition. Below are outlined a few early signs of autism in toddlers that you should know.

Autistic children show no signs of interest in communicating with children of their own age. Why, they don’t even seem to be interested in children of any age. You may want to watch out for that in your child and call the immediate attention of a medical professional to it.

Not only do they tend to sit by themselves, autistic toddlers also tend to lapse into repetitive behavior. They could do the same thing over and over so many times that it would make your head spin, but they would never tire of it. And if you tried to stop them, they could get very violent or loud because of the disturbance.

You may find your autistic toddler lining things up quite a bit, like the toys you have given them to play with. You may even observe the same pattern or order over and over, whereas they don’t really seem to be playing with the toys in the same sense, as other kids will. A pattern like this is cause for a bit of your attention.

Savant skills are rather common in autistic children. They could appear to be very good at one thing without showing much appreciation for it themselves. For instance, they could watch a movie and recite every conversation in it to you word for word without making a big deal of it. The most frustrating part of it is that the autistic child may not be able to do the same with any other movie.

Autistic toddlers tend to react violently to loud sounds around them such as a toilet flushing, a car driving by, or other such phenomena. In fact, you may have to put ear pads or headphones on them otherwise they could do off screaming as though they were in pain.

These are just a few autism signs that you should lookout for in your toddler. If you find that your little child is exhibiting any of these symptoms, you totally have to seek medical attention.
